The Danish Heart Register
A national clinical database of invasive cardiology and heart surgery
Due to the conversion of databases and some technical problems at the local
centers neither the quality indicators nor the activity indicators have been
updated recently.
The last update for data from western Denmark was made in February 2010 while
the last updates of eastern Denmark were mad in October / November 2009.
At the present time is not known when the website tables will update.
On the 1st of May 2001 the Danish Heart Register became part of the National Institure for Public Health (NIPH), Øster Farimagsgade 5A, 1353 København K. The authority responsible for the data is Region Hovedstaden, Kongens Vænge 2, 3400 Hillerød. The Danish minstry for health and the Copenhagen Council paid for the establishment of the registry, the running costs are paid by the Danish regions.
The register has a board made up of representatives of scientific companies, the invasive center and satelite units, aswell as representatives from NIPH, Region Hovedstaden and from The competence centre for national clinical quality databases (eastern region). NIPHs main task it so collect national data and to analyse the treatment efforts. The board monitors the validty of the reported data and to draw up guidelines for the routine extraction of data. Furthermore, the board draws up quality indicators and prognostic factors for examination and treatment. The board must approve all analyses before they are made public. It must also approve the data from the register for research projects.
The register is regularly integrated with the national patient register, the CPR register in order to evaluate it's completeness and to analyse mortality rates. The register is registered with the Danish data protection agency (j.nr. 2001-53-0503)
